1. I sat there in the middle of the argument as my mother shouts at my brother who stands grimly in the corner mumbling words to himself, he has his phone out and I can here the tap of the keyboard as he loses interest in my mother’s fury. I sit quietly and patiently in the corner trying to block out the words of madness that escape from my mother’s lips. She is almost screaming and at the edge of tears but there is no sign of stopping her from telling off my brother who almost gave the internet his home details. Stupid! Yes I know, he’s an idiot but acts like he’s the biggest baddest guy in town. My father also sits in the corner stabbing his quiche angrily as coming home from a hard day at work means that he’s in no mood for nonsense. When my mother first came into the kitchen yakking at my brother I could see the anger in my father’s eyes as he sighed sharply and told my mother that he needed work to do and couldn’t deal with the idiotic argument that was getting heated quickly. Is it true? I thought to myself as I hear my mother stomp out the room ridiculously, That my brother who’s in my opinion a fairly smart guy do something that stupid? I am almost tempted to shout it in his face because I now give my father sympathy having a day at school isn’t a piece of cake either. “Enough!,” I shout at my mother who enters the room once again, “Stop fighting like fools! Me and Dad aren’t in the mood for you two to yak through dinner!” My mother looks deep into my eyes with fury but gentle fury as if she wanted to punch me but hug me. My father on the other hand looks at me and smiles as I’m pretty sure he was about to shout the same thing. I go back to eating my quiche and for once the dinner table is silent.
