Celebrating 100

Hi everyone I would just like to say a big thank you to you all for viewing my blog because now I am up to 100 visitors.

Thank you for all your comments and feedback which has inspired me to write more.

To celebrate I am going to put up a competition… and anyone can enter.

The story or poem must have the word WHY and can only be 400 words all less.

Please enter.

Drumroll…

I stared until my eyes stung. But it couldn’t be! Could it? I was sure I must be dreaming. I blinked twice slowly but he was still standing there, without a sound. How long it is since I have seen him? My mind couldn’t remember back that far. I was only three years old but I had seen photos in my mum’s old tattered albums.

Why was he here? How long has he been back?

“Dad… is that you?”

He rushed forward and hugged me. I had so many questions but my mind was spinning crazily. So, for now, I just hugged him back.

My father had gone missing during the war when he was a soldier overseas. We all assumed he was dead. But miracles happen! And here was my miracle hugging me!

Here is the winning story of my competition. By Ms. Moroney.

Well done, your story grabbed my attention straight away.

The runner up, Emily has some great stories on her blog: www.emilyhp5.edublogs.org.

My next competition is coming soon, so stay tuned.

100 word challenge – #34

Darkness was my biggest fear. Claustrophobia was a close second. Those two fears were all approaching me at once.

I remember heading into a dark tunnel, graffiti covering all the walls. I don’t know why I entered the tunnel, however, I did.

A few minutes later, all the lights went out and I felt the corridor narrowing down until I could barely move.

“Hello Maya,” said a robotic voice.

The voice scared me and gave me goose-bumps all over. I need to escape, but where could I go? Where could I hide?

I heard footsteps, coming from all directions. I was doomed.

Mysterious

I looked, closed my eyes, pinched myself and then opened my eyes again, everything was still there. I thought I was dreaming, however, now I knew I was not. The sight made me flinch, shake and made my eyelids twitch. I tried to think as fast as I could as what I could do. It was going to strike any moment now. I ran along the bush track, trying to get away. However, the further I ran and every step I took, it all seemed closer. I turned around, however, all I could see was fog.

What do you think? – 2

If there was a tiger standing right in front of you would you rather,

A. Hide

B. Climb a tree

C. Run

or D. Try go closer and pat it.

Trying to get closer may not be the best of ideas, I thought. I looked around, I saw a tree followed by another, about a hundred of them, which swayed with the wind. I could briefly see light at the end of the pathway. However, it was not going to be easy with a tiger standing right in front of me. How can I do it and escape in one piece.

What would you do?

100 word challenge – #31

I lay on the wooden table. I was thinking about what I saw earlier that day. I need to process it.

I remember seeing about a hundred mini people, all wearing a white outfit. Two of them approached me. One with a camera, which was flashing in my face. Why would you want to take a picture of me? I am just an ordinary bee that likes to buzz around.  I collect pollen and honey is my destiny. I thought.

The second man was touching my leg and he was holding a briefcase. What was he doing?

Quote of the Day 1

I am going to start something called Quote of the Day.

Every once and a while I will put up my favourite quote.

Here is the first one:

“Let us go forth with fear and courage and rage to save the world.”

– Grace Paley.

Please comment if you like it or if you have a suggestion for a Quote of the Day.
